If you’re experiencing video playback or page loading issues on the FishingMad Members pages, we highly recommend following the steps suggested below. These issues are very uncommon, and when we have helped customers troubleshoot them, the underlying problems were related to installed website add-ons, security settings, VPNs, caching issues, having many tabs open, or an end-of-life browser or operating system. (Please keep in mind that these items, such as VPNs and privacy add-ons, would impact all websites that require a login or playback, and not just FishingMad.)

Below are some simple steps you can take on your home PC, followed by steps for Apple users. For good measure, we recommend trying another PC or mobile device to see if you experience the same problem.

If you require any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Disable Privacy Extensions or Add-ons

Privacy extensions or add-ons in your browser often interfere with the playback of videos locked to a specific domain. You can easily disable these to restore playback functionality.

Google Chrome:

  • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “More tools” > “Extensions.
  • Find the privacy extension you want to disable.
  • Toggle the switch off to disable the extension.

 Mozilla Firefox:

  • Click the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner and select “Add-ons.
  • Choose “Extensions” from the menu on the left.
  • Click the toggle switch next to the extension you want to disable.

 Microsoft Edge:

  • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Extensions.
  • Locate the privacy extension you wish to disable.
  • Click the switch to turn off the extension.

Enable Cookies

When playing an embedded Vimeo video, the privacy settings error may be due to your browser’s cookie settings. Cookies are essential for websites to function correctly and track your session data. Enabling cookies can resolve issues with content not playing due to privacy settings.

Google Chrome:

  • Open Chrome and click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • Select “Settings.
  • Scroll down and click “Privacy and security.
  • Click “Cookies and other site data.
  • Select “Allow all cookies.

 Mozilla Firefox:

  • Open Firefox and click the three lines in the upper-right corner.
  • Choose “Options.
  • Go to the “Privacy & Security” panel.
  • Under “Cookies and Site Data,” click “Manage Permissions.
  • Set the status to “Allow” for the websites you want.

 Microsoft Edge:

  • Open Microsoft Edge and click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • Select “Settings.
  • Click on “Cookies and site permissions.
  • Click on “Manage and delete cookies and site data.
  • Set the toggle to “Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended).

 Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

Clearing your browser’s cache and cookies can resolve website issues and video playback by removing outdated or corrupted data that might be causing the privacy settings error. This refreshes your browser’s memory and can often fix loading or playback problems.

Google Chrome:

  • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Settings.
  • Go to “Privacy and security” and click “Clear browsing data.
  • Choose the time range and check the boxes for “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files.
  • Click “Clear data.

 Mozilla Firefox:

  • Click the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner and select “Options.
  • Go to “Privacy & Security” and scroll down to “Cookies and Site Data.
  • Click “Clear Data,” check the desired options, and then click “Clear.

 Microsoft Edge:

  • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Settings.
  • Under “Privacy, search, and services,” click “Choose what to clear” under “Clear browsing data.
  • Select the time range and check the boxes for “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files.
  • Click “Clear now.

Update Web Browser

Keeping your browser updated is crucial for ensuring compatibility with websites and their content, such as Vimeo videos. An outdated browser may not support the latest privacy protocols or video standards, leading to errors like the one mentioned.

Google Chrome:

  • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • Go to “Help” > “About Google Chrome.
  • Chrome will automatically check for updates and install them.
  • Relaunch the browser if prompted.

 Mozilla Firefox:

  • Click the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner.
  • Select “Help” > “About Firefox.
  • Firefox will check for updates and download them automatically.
  • Click “Restart to update Firefox” if necessary.

 Microsoft Edge:

  • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • Go to “Settings” > “About Microsoft Edge.
  • Edge will automatically check for updates and install any available ones.
  • Restart the browser to apply the update.

Switch To a Different Browser or PC/Device

It’s always a good idea to see if you get the same issue on another PC or mobile device. This can be driven by many factors, such as an end-of-life machine, a corrupt PC, caching, or a security error.

Sometimes, the issue is specific to the user’s web browser due to its settings or compatibility issues. Trying a different browser can help determine if the problem is browser-related. For troubleshooting, it is also helpful to check if the same problem occurs on a different PC or device to isolate the issue.

  • Close the current browser where the video isn’t playing.
  • Open a different web browser installed on your device.
  • Navigate to the Video you want to watch.
  • Check if the video plays without the privacy settings error.

Safari users on iPhone/iPad/Mac

Safari on your Mac or Apple device sometimes deploys updates that enable features, which can cause issues for any website that requires a login. The recommended steps to fix include

Turn off Safari’s advanced tracking.
Hiding your IP address and preventing tracking in Safari may not play well with all sites. Similarly, some web pages may refuse to load in Safari on iPhone, and you will see a “Reduce Protections” button at the top. Tap it and retry loading the site. If you’ve enabled all Safari protections, it may be time to disable them temporarily. To do that, open Safari and click Safari > Settings from the top menu bar. Next, go to the Privacy heading and stop hiding your IP address from websites by unchecking the “Hide IP address” box or setting it to “from Trackers only.”

Hide IP address from Trackers Only in Safari on Mac.
After that, go to the Advanced tab and set “Use advanced tracking and fingerprinting protection” to “in Private Browsing” (instead of “in all browsing”) or uncheck this option altogether.

Turn off Privacy in Safari’s Advanced settings on Mac.
If you’re using an iPhone/iPad, go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Hide IP Address and set it to Trackers Only. After that, tap Advanced at the bottom of the Safari settings screen and set Advanced Tracking and Fingerprinting Protection to “Private Browsing” or “Off.”

Switch off iCloud Private Relay.
Private Relay is offered with an iCloud+ or Apple One paid subscription, and it’s there to secure your browsing. However, it can sometimes cause issues, and certain websites or specific pages of a site may not load.

If you find yourself in such a situation, head over to Settings/System Settings > your Apple Account from the top > iCloud > Private Relay and turn off Private Relay temporarily.
