Jeremy Ang ventured out on Sunday the 24th along the yarra river underneath the west gate bridge. He proceeded to fish next to the jetty that has the punt pickup and drop off service. Using 2 light fishing rod outfits rigged using a paternoster rig. Finished of with a mix of raw chicken and pilchard as bait. Jeremy caught plenty of undersize juvenile snapper ( Pinkies ) between 15 and 28cm which were all released. Finally he got a big strike on the rod and after some careful work successfully landed a 42cm flathead which made his day. Its an interesting fishing system which sees many different species come in and out. This time of year it has plenty of pinkies but in the colder months can be great for bream, salmon, gummies and mulloway.
