On the 21st of May 2019 Tullaroop reservoir has officially been open kayaks, canoes and electric boats. This is another huge win for kayak fisherman of Victoria. This is all part of the $34 million dollars Target One Million campaign by our State Government. To encourage more people to fish in better fishing conditions. Phase 2 will include a total of 6 reservoirs to locals. Tullaroop Reervoir is the second reservoir to be opened to kayakers following Barkers Creek in April. Lauriston, Hepburn, Upper Coliban and Malmsbury reservoirs still to come which is exciting.

Tullaroop is a great fishing destination, more information about fishing here can be seen here on our fishing locations guide. But that’s not all the good news for Tullaroop Reservoir. An $80,000 grant has seen additional improvements deployed. New boat ramp installed, extended car parking and new signage added by Goulburn Murray Water. Improved facilities at Tullaroop Reservoir will help recreational anglers able to target many of the stocked fish population which has had a huge boost recently.

Over the last four years, almost 200,000 brown and rainbow trout have been stocked into the reservoir. This will only complement an already very healthy redfin population. The Minister for Fishing & Boating, Jaala Pulford MP, was on site for the opening today and kicked off this memorable occasion releasing 10,000 rainbow trout and 15,000 brown trout with the local angling club.

This year in March, Tullaroop Reservoir was also stocked with 100,000 golden perch. This no doubt will create an amazing fishing ecosystem in years to come.
