This fishing report comes from Portarlington. We launch from Werribee boat ramp at 6.30am in glass-like waters and red skies. We shoot across Port Phillip Bay to Portarlington to target squid. We started fishing on first light and the action was frantic. Surprisingly after only a couple of drifts and we landed our bag limit of calamari in just 30 minutes. Yep, that’s 20 combined squids in less than half an hour.
We were using a range of squid jigs including Yamashita Live, Rui squid jigs & savage gear 3D shrimp. Some caught working the fishing rod and some caught with the rod in the rod holder.
