Local young gun angler Kurtis Campbell headed out to Port Phillip Bay with Brett Reed from Reedy’s Rigs. The guys launched from Mornington and decided to do a night session. Something different to spark some interest and see if they can land something big. Using 6-8 kilo snapper rods and full pilchards as bait the guys ended up having a very memorable night on the water. This all started with a long battle with a decent size Bronze whale shark. The rod started screaming, the shark took taking line and tangling all the other lines causing chaos on deck. With some good work from Brett the guys managed to get things back on track. Kurtis continued to battle the shark and after some effort and time managed to get it close to the boat. But once again the shark managed to get tangled on the berley pot attached to the boat. After a few tense moments the guys acted quickly eventually landing a beautiful bronize. A first and a special moment for Kurtis.
