Welcome to the Daiwa Luvias 21 Airity LT Preview. Daiwa this week has provided a sneak peek into a refresh of the very popular Luvias series of reels. The new take for 2021 has been labelled Luvias 21 Airity. For many anglers, Luvias has been a go-to reel choice for finesse fishing. Its been a popular reel used when targeting species such as bream, perch, bass, trout, squid and more. Or using the heavier models for species such as snapper. A light and versatile reel, with a strong drag capacity made in Japan without the steep price point usually seen of Japanese, made fishing reels.

The 2015 Luvias reel was a very popular reel. Then the Luvias received a major refresh only last released in 2020 ( Luvias 20 LT ) and was the first of the Luvias reels to incorporate Daiwa’s LT ( Light & Tough ) technology. Using a Zaion body, air spool handle, abs long cast and single-piece monocoque body. To make the reel lighter and tougher. You can see our review of the Luvias 20 reel here. Funnily enough, our team bought several Luvias 20 models reels in December 2020 and wish we knew a revised version of these reels were in the pipeline for 2021. Were not disappointed as the 2021 Luvias are excellent reels for lightweight fishing. You can see us using the Luvias 20 here.
The new Luvias labelled Airity has a refreshed look which draws inspiration from the Certate and Exist. It also comes at a significantly steeper price point. The existing and current Luvias 20 selling at most retailers for $579 yet the new Luvias 21 Airity will start at $849 a increase of $270. We cant wait to get our hands onto the new Luvias 21 Airity reels to see what we’re getting for the increased price point.

ABS LONGCAST
Compared to conventional spools, the LC-ABS has been advertised to increase flight distance by 5% due to its reduced weight and modified shape.
MAGNESIUM BODY
Reels featuring a magnesium body are significantly lighter than conventional alloy bodied reels. Daiwa’s magnesium, Air Metal, technology processes the magnesium in a unique way that results in full corrosion resistance.
MONOCOQUE (MQ)
A one-piece frame eliminates the use of traditional two-piece body & sideplate construction. A single piece body utilises a screw-in engine plate to house the main gear, reducing flex and twist under load creating a sealed mechanism. The elimination of the side plate also has also allowed for a more compact body design. MQ technology not only makes reels stronger & better sealed, but also more compact.
