EcoFlow RIVER 2 Portable Power Station Review by FishingMad. I’m always on the go fishing, camping, and filming all over Melbourne and Victoria. Covering hundreds of different locations for the FishingMad TV show and website. One of the challenges I constantly face when off the grid for a few days is keeping my devices powered and charged. For me, this includes items like fish finder ( sounder ), GoPro, digital SLR cameras, Drone, Headlamps, torches, lighting, VHF/UHF radios, coolers, and more.
After doing extensive research of products in this market space I got my hands on an EcoFlow River 2 Portable Power Station. It’s really convenient only weighing 3.5 kilos, with multiple charging options and multiple port inputs. There are options in this space that provide more power capacity but for me, portability and convenience is king as I’m always traveling in remote locations and already have a heap of fishing gear, camping gear, and filming equipment with me. EcoFlow River 2 CHARGING
There are multiple charging options and being able to charge this in remote locations via conveniently packed solar panels is a game changer. Before I go on my trips, I charge the unit in full using the standard wall A/C outlet. It only takes 1 hour to be fully charged which is amazing and much quicker than many competitor products on the market. ( advertised as 5x quicker then competitors equivalent products and 38% quicker than previous generation models ).
I can also charge the portable power station via my car using the cigarette lighter port, I can power it using other external batteries and as mentioned I can charge it on the go with solar panels that conveniently pack up.

There are 4 ports that you can charge your devices. This is great providing a variety of connectivity options and for me it means I can charge multiple devices at the same time. Generally for me it means I’m charging my sounder, smartphone and 2 gopro batteries and 2 camera batteries at the same time.

I have taken the EcoFlow River 2 with the 110W solar panel kit on several fishing, camping, and filming trips. It’s been a game changer in keeping all my devices powered. This is critical to staying connected with family and friends with my mobile. Whilst being able to film by having GoPro batteries charged and so much more. Whilst only taking a small amount of room and being intuitively easy to use, set up, and reliable. If you are on the go like me and need to stay online, then this is a very product worthy of considering.
