Welcome to the Salty Captain Boat Wash Review. I’m quite precious when it comes to the upkeep of my boat and kayak. Maintenance, organisation and cleanliness play a big role in maximising your time out in the water and the longevity of your valued possessions.
Salty Captain is a boat washing kit made in Australia. The kit includes detergents and accessories to keep your boat looking its best and protected from our harsh conditions. The detergents are an environmentally friendly biodegradable concentrate containing coconut oil, natural substances and plant ingredients. The detergent has been specifically designed to reduce salt build-up, remove odours, and remove any dirt and waste from your day out fishing. It also helps your boat maintain that new shine and prevent corrosion on your motor and trailer.

The Salty Captains Care Package
After a full day out fishing in Port Phillip bay returning with the boat full of squid ink and saltwater, we thought this was the best time to crack open and test the Salty Captains – Captains Care package. Inside we found the following items.
- One litre of salt wash detergent
- Detergent canister
- High-pressure hose trigger
- Foaming nozzle
- Brass metal connectors
- Microfibre twist towel
- Microfibre hand mitt
Salty Captain hose assembly
Assembly was quite simple and in no time, we were ready to clean. However, to ensure your setting up your package correctly we highly recommend that you watch this detailed step-by-step guide.
How to use Salty Captian boat wash
Once the hose attachments were put together correctly the process included.
- Filling the detergent canister with water.
- Adding 2-4 caps of salt wash detergent.
- Reattaching the detergent canister lid firmly
- Mixing the detergent and water with a good shake
- Spraying the boat and engine with the bubbly detergent
- Waiting 3-5 minutes for the detergent to work its magic.
- Rinsing down the boat completely.
- Finish by using the microfibre hand mitt and towel.
It was a simple process and in less than 10 minutes the boat was looking like new. All the dirt, sand and squid ink were gone. We also had that reassurance that there would be no saltwater damage to the hull as the detergent had taken care of that and that the motor and trailer had some level of protection against corrosion.
Captains Care Package Review Conclusion
Overall we were impressed with how easy assembly was, the quality of the components and the cleanliness results of the boat after usage. The captain’s care package costs $175 with shipping being free Australia-wide. We believe this is money well spent to keep your boat, jet ski or kayak in tip-top shape. This package and other cleaning products can be purchased directly from the Salty Captain website. They also sell a range of detergent refills, and engine flush kits.
